The story so far..
Born in Wigan and living from the age of six in Torbay, Devon, Tony Gwynne grew up with the songs of the 1960s and ’70s providing the soundtrack to everyday life. Some of his earliest musical memories are of waking to the radio in the morning, hearing the songs of a generation of writers before heading off to school.
Music became more than something to listen to. From the age of 14, Tony began writing songs of his own and, over the years, immersed himself in the work of the songwriters who had first inspired him.
Among them, James Taylor’s music held a particular fascination. Tony began to study the detail behind the songs — the intricate fingerpicking, the subtle phrasing and the warmth and intimacy of Taylor’s voice. What began as an appreciation of the music gradually became a journey into the craft behind it.
Today, Tony brings that journey to the stage as James Tailored, performing the songs of James Taylor with a genuine affection for the music and the era that shaped it. From the guitar work and vocal style to the unmistakable look, every detail is approached with care.
